Courses: We are offering Puget Salish/Lushootseed classes for summer quarter.
CD-ROM Courses for WIN: There are five different CD-ROM (WIN) courses to choose from. Courses start on Monday, June 22, 2009. You can now pay tuition and purchase course materials online using PayPal. Click on the CD-ROM Courses for WIN for more information.
Immersion Courses: From June 22nd through July 3rd, 2009, the Norwest Indian Language Institute (NILI) will be holding a 2-week language institute for teachers at the University of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon. Along with a full-immersion Lushootseed language course, the institute will also be teaching courses in teaching methods, computer technology, classroom materials and technology, linguistics, Sahaptin, Chinuk Wawa, and Tolowa. The NILI Summer Institute is an excellent opportunity for language teachers to gain hands-on knowledge of linguistics, teaching and material development. eShop: It is now possible to purchase Puget Salish/Lushootseed materials online using Pay Pal. There are several good language materials for purchase. They include text books, audio CDs, children’s books and Lushootseed cultural books. In particular, ‘Puget Sound Geography Original Manuscript from T. T. Waterman’ covers hundreds of Lushootseed place names gathered at the beginning of the 20th century.
These materials are useful to educators, linguists, anthropologist, historians, scholars, Lushootseed students, etc. For more information, go to the eShop tab.
